6/14/08 -- 1:00 P.M.. -- DAY #1 -- TOURNAMENT HAS STARTED!

6/13/08 -- 10:30 P.M. -- IMPORTANT -- IMPORTANT -- IMPORTANT

• Due to the weather / rain (this week) and tonight / as well as more expected rain, we are cancelling the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. games on "all" fields

• NOTE -- Due to the lost of the number of games, we are shifting into a double-elimination format schedule -- GET MODIFIED SCHEDULE

6/13/08 -- 9:15 P.M. UPDATE -

• ALL 8:00 A.M. GAMES SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY JUNE 14TH ARE CANCELLED AND WILL BE PLACED AT THE END OF SATURDAY
• Note -- If we get any more rain, we are very optimistic that we will be operational by 10:30 a.m.   However, if we get any more "substantive" rain tonight (which is predicted), we may be forced to pull the 10:30 a.m. games.   AT THIS TIME, 10:30 A.M. GAMES ARE ON SCHEDULE.
• Note -- Further update at by 6:00 a.m. (if not before)
• NOTE -- Tournament format -- If we can resume the tournament by 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., we can remain on a present format -- 2 pool games, then seeded into a single elimination round.  If we have any adjustments after that time, we may be forced to modify the tournament format.
• WEATHER HOTLINE -- 812-339-0853 -- However, this page will be update at the same time between now and 6:00 A.M. on 6/14/08.

6/13/08 -- WEATHER UPDATES --

• Starting 12:00 (Noon) on Friday June 13th, 2008, we will start updating the local phone (812-339-0853 and our website) with weather updates for this weekend's tournament. 
• Note -- Rain is expected in the Bloomington area for Friday day and night.  In addition, there is a chance rain will continue into the night and Saturday morning.  Depending upon how much rain we get, will depend upon whether we start on time, modify the tournament format, or even have dry enough fields to play the event.  At this time, we expect to play the event this weekend.  We will do further weather and tournament updates starting Friday June 13th at Noon.
• NOTE -- Coaches -- Please make for sure you have sent your contact information to Angie (angie@indianaheat.com) or contact our office (812-339-0853) and give the information to her over the phone, or leave a voice-mail with the information.  The information should include:

   

  • Team Name
  • Head Coach -- Name and cell number and e-mail (so we can confirm receipt of your information)
  • Assistant Coach -- Name and cell number
  • 2nd Assistant Coach -- Name and cell number
  • Please make for sure all forms are completed -- Send the Hotel/Emergency Contact Form (completed) to angie@indianaheat.com as soon as possible

6/13/08 -- FRIDAY JUNE 13TH -- WEATHER REPORTS / UPDATES

  • Bloomington -- Light rain in the area / rain appears to be on the way / No final decision as to Friday June 13th game until 3:00 p.m. today --

  • Note -- there is a strong line of thunderstorms moving towards Bloomington that does not look promising for tonight's game --
  • TONIGHT'S GAME IS CANCELLED DUE TO THE RAIN AND SEVERE WEATHER
• NOTE -- At the present, it looks like morning games may be delayed and moved.  A further update on this matter will be posted around 6:00 p.m. -- 7:00 p.m. -- tonight, as well as an update on the weather hotline for the Heat (812-339-0853)

6/3/08 -- TOURNAMENT RULES -- Coaches and Parents -- Please review our Tournament Rules.

• Parents and Coaches -- Please review our Rules in order to avoid any unnecessary issues. 
• Some key points of our rules:
  • We do charge a daily gate fee -- no refunds
  • Our playing areas and fan areas are "no smoking" areas
  • We have a "zero tolerance" for violence and/or violations of our Rules
  • Where a field has concessions -- there is no outside food or drinks permitted -- there is water in the dugouts.  If a field does not have concessions (for example, Bloomington South), you may bring in outside food and drink
  • Absolutely no alcohol is permitted at any time on site
  • Teams must furnish two (2) new baseballs prior to the start of each game.  Balls should be good quality and, at the minimum, a high school quality and acceptable baseball.  Teams must get foul balls. 
  • Each team must provide one parent to act as the "official scorekeeper" or the "official scoreboard operator."  This must be a parent or individual, at least 18 years of age.  Official Score Sheets will be provided to the individuals prior to the start of each game.
  • The winning team is responsible to take the official Score Sheet to Tournament Central or the On-Site Coordinator for the game to be "official"
  • PLEASE NOTE -- These are only a few of our important rules -- please review all rules for this event.

6/3/08 -- REQUIRED TOURNAMENT FORMS -- Coaches -- Please be sure to complete all forms and present at "check-in" (which is 1 hour before the start of your first game on Saturday).

6/3/08 -- T-SHIRTS -- Coaches (and Parents) -- WE WILL HAVE A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF SHIRTS TO BE PURCHASED ON-SITE.  Be sure to submit your t-shirt orders for this event.  There will be a limited number of t-shirts ordered, so in order to secure a t-shirt, please place your orders before Thursday May 22nd.

  • Cost -- $ 15 per shirt (includes design on the front and team names on the back)

6/3/08 -- TOURNAMENT FORMAT:

• 14U Division -- Teams will play "2" pool games then be seeded into a single elimination championship round
  • Note -- The #4 and #5 Seeds will play at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday evening at Winslow Sports Complex -- all other teams will play on Sunday morning.
  • The winners of the #4 vs. #5 Seed games on Saturday night will play on Sunday morning.
  • Once in the single elimination round, once a team sustains a loss, the team is eliminated from the event.  The elimination round starts on Saturday evening at 8:15 p.m.
  • Note -- When possible, due to gas and travel costs, we have tried to schedule teams closer in times between games.  We have found that teams would rather play closer game schedules (meaning -- not playing early in the day and in again late into the day, but rather playing with a break or no break -- in order to minimize travel expenses).   Where possible, we have attempted to do so.

6/12/08 -- Hoosier Mattingly replaces Jasper Cats in Pool "B1"

6/13/08 -- 9:00 p.m. -- B3 -- Indiana Cardinals informed us that they have pulled from the event due to player issues.  We will be rescheduling any B3 games.
