TOURNAMENT UPDATE AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

IMPORTANT UPDATE -- MODIFIED 15U SCHEDULE FORMAT -- Due to the rain and the cancelation of Brown County and Bloomington South fields, all 15U games will be at Plainfield on a modified rain schedule format as follows:

  • All games will be limited to one (1) hour and forty-five (45) minutes.

  • At the end of 1 hour 45 minutes, the game will terminate immediately.

  • The "winner" of that game will be determined based upon the last completed inning.

  • The games will start as follows:

    • 10:00 a.m.

    • Noon

    • 2:00 p.m.

    • 4:00 p.m.

    • 6:00 p.m.

    • 8:00 p.m.

    • Note -- If there is a "tie" at the end of the time regulation ( 1 hr 45 minutes ), then you still go to the last completed inning -- but the last inning there was not a tie.

    • Note -- If the game still results in a tie, in that each team scored the identical runs in the same innings, then (and only then) you will go to the following "game tie break rule"

      • Last batted out is at 2nd base / one (1) out / with "0" balls, "1" strike on the batter

      • Note -- In the event there is still a tie, then the next inning the "last batted out" moves to 3rd base / one (1) out / with "0" balls, "1" strike on the batter

  • There will be no "championship game" as that game would have to be played at 10:00 p.m. and there are town restrictions from any game be played past 11:00 p.m. at night

  • The 1st and 2nd place winners of the division will be determined as follows:

    • 6:00 winner

    • 8:00 winner

    • Record

    • If both teams have the same record, then we will go to our tournament "tie breakers" for the 1st and 2nd place winners

Sunday July 5th (1:30 a.m.) -- NOTE -- Still raining in Bloomington and Nashville.  Last update until 6:00 a.m.

Sunday July 5th (00:45 a.m.) -- NOTE -- It is still raining in Bloomington and Nashville.   It has now been raining in excess of 13 straight hours in the area.

Sunday July 5th (00:01 a.m.) -- NOTE -- At this time, it is still raining in Bloomington and other tournament locations.   Based upon the continuous and non-stop rain for the past twelve (12) plus hours, it will be very difficult to get the tournament completed on Sunday.   At this time, however, we remain optimistic and will work extremely hard to start Sunday on time and get the remaining games completed -- however, the rain may have saturated the high school baseball fields to a point that it may be impossible to get them in shape in time to complete the tournament.

We will have another update posted at 6:00 a.m.   In addition, live updates on the Heat line ( 812-339-0853 ) will resume at 7:45 a.m.

Saturday July 4th (8:40 p.m.) -- 15U Division -- is now posted -- Please note that the fields are very wet and we have been told that the Plainfield fields should be ready around 10:00 a.m. (if rain ends by Midnight) and that Bloomington South will not be ready before Noon.   As such, we had to move most of the 15U games to Plainfield, except two (2) 15U Division games which shall be played at Bloomington South.  The 15U Championship game will be at Plainfield.

Saturday July 4th (8:20 p.m.) -- 13U Division -- is now posted.   Please note that we have one (1) more pool game to play at 9:00 a.m.  That game is on a rain shortened game and will end at 1 hours 45 minutes.  At that time, the team who is leading at the last completed inning will be the winner.  Seeds will be determined at that time.  Please note -- seeding will be based upon the first two (2) games played by each team.

Saturday July 4th (8:05 p.m.) -- 12U Division -- Is now posted.   Please note that seeding was based upon the last round, which all teams had completed -- that is after every team's first two (2) games.

Saturday July 4th (7:40 p.m.) -- 14U Division -- The 14U Division is now posted.  Two (2) teams did not get at least two (2) pool games.   They play at 10:00 a.m.  After that game, the division can be seeded.   The single elimination championship round commences at 12:00 (Noon).   The 10:00 a.m. game will be a rain shorten game of 1 hour and 45 minutes.   At the time of 1 hour and 45 minutes, the game will end.   The team who is leading after the last completed inning, shall be declared the winner.  The single elimination round will being exactly at 12:00 (Noon) in order to stay on schedule for the 9:00 p.m. championship game.

In the 14U Division, the championship round games will be shortened (all except the championship game itself -- where there is not time limit, but the run rule remains in effect).  The single elimination championship round shall be at 2 hours time limits for each game, with the game ending at two (2) hours.   The winner shall be declared as the team who is leading at the last completed inning.

Saturday July 4th (7:18 p.m.) -- 11U Division -- Schedules for the 11U Division have now been posted.   First games on Sunday begin at 9:00 a.m.

Saturday July 4th (7:00 p.m.) -- 17U/18U -- Schedules are being updated at this time.  At 6:55 p.m., we have posted the 17U/18U Schedules for Sunday.   The other divisions will be updated in the coming hour.

Saturday July 4th (8:45 a.m.) -- Happy Holidays -- July 4th!   However, the rain will not be as nice today, as we expect rain late morning and, once it comes, we expect that it will be in the area for the remainder of the afternoon.   Depending upon when the rain comes, when it leaves and how long it stays, will determine how the tournament will be structured for the remainder of the weekend.

Once the rain comes and games go down, the Heat will communicate modified schedules to coaches as follows:

  • This website -- will be updated on a regular basis and as new information becomes available.
  • Indiana Heat Office -- 812.339.0853 -- Megan, Assistant Tournament Director, will be updating the "rain hotline."
  • Heat Age Coordinators -- If you submitted your Emergency Contact Form to our staff at check-in, one of our Age Coordinators will be in telephonic contact with you about schedule modifications.

Note -- Once the rain closes the fields for the day (based upon the weather that is moving from the St. Louis area to Indiana), it would appear that the fields will be down for the day.   However, please be ready to play on a modified rain basis at any point this afternoon and evening.  In any event, our staff will be in communications with you at some point through the afternoon.

Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to becoming operational as soon as possible after the rain.

Friday -- July 3rd, 2009 -- 17U/18U UPDATE -- Please note that G1 -- Lexington (Kentucky) South team pulled on Thursday due to injuries with players from the previous weekends.   The 17U/18U Schedule (only) has been updated to reflect this modification in the schedule.   Now, the #1 Seed will get a "bye" into Sunday mornings game instead of playing the championship round game on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (#1 versus #8 game).
