  • NOTE -- IMPORTANT RAIN INFORMATION -- Unfortunately, there is a chance of rain for this weekend's event.   All teams must be aware of the Heat procedure for rain, rain delays, shorten games and cancelations.
    • #1 -- The Heat, along with Bloomington Parks and Rec, work extremely hard for every team to get "all" of their games completed.   However, during rain situations that might not be possible.   But, to the best of everyone's ability, our goal is to see that each team plays the schedule posted.   Please refer to our policy on rain and its impact on the tournament -- See Tournament Rules.
    • #2 -- In the event of rain, our procedure is as follows:
      • If the game cannot start on time, we will go into a modified rain schedule until the tournament returns to the scheduled tournament time.   In the modified rain schedule, the games are shortened as necessary to get all of the games in for the day of play.   In most cases, games will be shortened to 1 hours 30 minutes time limitations -- in some cases, the games may be shortened to a shorter period.  Unfortunately, the rain will dictate what happens in this area.
    • #3 -- Due to an upcoming national tournament in Bloomington, the tournament must be completed as scheduled.   As such, the Heat will be doing everything possible to stay on schedule and, if rain gets the event off schedule, to shorten the games to allow for the tournament to get back on schedule.
    • #4 -- Ties in Pool Play -- If the tournament is in a modified rain schedule, games will be called at the end of the time period.   There will not be any ties as long as a winner can be determined by going back to the last fully completed inning with a team that had the lead.   For example, in game "X", the time has expired.   Teams "A" and "B" are tied 3 - 3.   However, after the end of 3 innings, Team "A" had the lead 2 - 1.   As such, Team "A" is the winner of the game.
    • #5 -- Rain -- The Umpires, subject to final discretion in the Tournament Director, will determine when the fields are playable and not playable.   In some rare situations, Bloomington Parks and Recreation may make a overriding determination that the fields are or are not playable.   Since the fields are leased from Bloomington Parks and Recreation, they have the final say as to playing conditions.
